Rather than having this new API which looks dangerous, maybe try recoding XUL so that it has all the same functionality as before, but with the new code that makes it compatible with other browsers.
That way, it's still really easy to port to other browsers, but it gives Firefox a big advantage by offering many more features.6 votes

Thanks for this feedback, but having a big list of add-ons in one suggestion is hard for us to break down into prioritizable pieces. Let’s try opening one idea per add-on, and then people could vote on each individually and discuss specific implementation needs.
